Day 25 I've got a pocket full of sunshine

Don’t come in and tell me ‘it’s lovely weather out there!’ I can’t leave, are you trying to make me sad? Evil customers…on the other hand, I have ginger blood a little ray of sunshine and I burn. so yeah lovely weather isn’t it!!

Salads of the day: Chickpeas + golden roots with spicy lime pickle + coriander dressing · Bacon + leek pasta

Day 24 Will life ever be the same?

Sometimes the deli feels like my living room. A stranger will come in, I put the kettle on and we have a natter…I mean there’s more to my job than that! Some of my OG’s are coming back in maybe normality will return sooner than we thought?

Salads of the day: Roast pepper + tomato ragu with lentils · Smokey aubergine + tomato pasta

Salads of the day: Roast cauliflower + chickpea with coconut + turmeric · 4 cheese + broccoli pasta

Day 22 Bring on the weekend!

TGIF WHOOO!! For some everyday is a Friday, for me it’s a god send! It’s been a great week at the deli the community has been in chipper spirits… and they they come into the shop and I manage to ruin that feeling! It’s kind of my party trick, you’re welcome.

Day 21 I got a bad feeling about this

Sometimes I sit and contemplate the world today, we’re told about strong economies, ecological changes and solid infrastructure. It all seems a bit of a myth right now. Something’s not right I can’t put my finger on it. Would you take the vaccine?

Pasta of the day: Roast vegetable ragu

Sandwich of the day: Prosciutto cotto, Blue cheese cream, onion relish + tomato

Soup of the Day: Broccoli · spinach + potato

Salads of the day: Indian spiced chickpea curry · Cream of courgette pasta

Day 19 Sorry for the late post

Hello fans, so sorry for the late post today I lost track of time (haven’t we all) I’ve had a couple customers ask what I made of the Boris Johnson speech. I didn’t watch it. Why would I? I didn’t vote for him. #notmypresident. Here’s my update: nothing has changed, there’s still a pandemic and we have PPE… Pasta, potatoes and eggs.

Soup of the day: Indian spiced tomato

Salads of the day: Rice noodle salad with five spice tofu · Rainbow rice · chicken + chorizo pasta

Day 18 Easy Breezy

Well the weather’s changed!! I had a great bank holiday weekend, watching classic movies and trash telly and there is no guilty watching while in lockdown because there’s nothing else to do!! Fun Fact: When you watch that many ‘real’ housewives episodes you can actually feel your brain cells dissolve..

Soup of the day: Sweet potato + lentils with harissa + cumin

Salads of the day: Paprika beans with red peppers · Asparagus pesto pasta (contains cashews)

Day 17 Freedom

I made to the end of another week it’s been 45 days of ‘lockdown’. It’s going to be a sunny weekend, I feel like I should remind you all to stay safe.. remember to wear sun screen!! Ha! what am I like eh? The song that comes to mind for today is Everybody’s Free by Baz Luhrmann.

Soup of the day: Velvet aubergine

Salads of the day: Panzanella with feta · Spring green + tomato pasta

Day 16 It's another day of sun

I wake up at 6:30am everyday. In Winter it’s hard waking up to darkness but in Summer I find I wake up and I jump out of bed humming Hall & Oats You Making My Dreams. If you wake up and you feel a dark cloud over your head I suggest you use this method to make yourself feel better. This is not a definite cure… I am not a doctor.

Soup of the day: Tuscan bean + tomato

Salads of the day: Aubergine + aduki beans in black bean sauce · mushroom + bacon pearl barley

Day 15 Energy crew

There is something about knowing it’s a 4 day working week that is just filling me with energy! The sun is shining people are in a seemingly good mood what is there to be down about?! Oh yeah… There’s a global pandemic.

Sandwich of the day: Roast beef · Tetilla cheese · onion relish + tomato

Day 14 4 day working week

This weekend was bliss, for me the weather was perfect! I decided to take my dog on an 8 mile walk through the back roads in Chelsea, Knightsbridge and South Ken. What is usually a tourist hot-spot was eerily quiet. So when I say ‘i’m loving lockdown’ i’s for moments like that which I will never again get to experience. You know what I mean?

Soup of the day: Courgette · tomato + rosemary

Salads of the day: Ratatouille styled rice · Broccoli · chilli + garlic pasta

Day 11 The daytime pub

When you first come to North St. you might be a bit put off by the conversations that take place, they’re the same conversations that take place in a dimly lit room where alcohol is present. If you can move pass the better lighting and swap your martini for a flat white (alternative milks available) you’ll find a new culture. I call it the daytime pub.

Soup of the day: Thai spiced vegetables

Sandwich of the day: Pastrami, French brie, Branston relish + tomato

Salad of the day: Veggie chow mein

Day 10 now this is quiet

Not a soul seen expect the labourers who have no choice but to face the storm. I think this is what the government imagined when they said lockdown. The lack of customers has not stopped Mad (the chef) from putting on a show. She’s only gone and done stuffed portobello mushrooms!!

Salads of the day: Cauliflower pesto pasta · Chilli CON carne

Soup of the day: Velvet mushroom

Day 9 Here comes the rain (do do do doo)

Would you still wait in a queue if it’s raining outside. I wonder. Also is it bad that I ask people what they did over the weekend? Does it sound like i’m taking the mick? I personally had a great time home manicure, bit of carpentry and I made macaroons.

Sandwich of the day: Chorizo, strong Spanish creamy cheese, Cornichon, Tomato + onion relish

Soup of the day: Potato + broccoli

Salads of the day: veggie pasta bake · miso aubergine rice noodle salad

It’s going good, the custom is different but because we’re an independent we’ve been able to adapt to the new wants and needs of the locals. I miss the hustle and bustle of the lunch rush though.

Salads of the day: Squash + rosemary pasta · Lentil feta + tomato salad · Paprika prawn + potato

Soup of the day: Courgette · tomato + basil

Day 7 J'adore fromage

We got in some new cheeses today it felt like Christmas morning opening up our delivery. It’s the small joys in life I find i’m really having an appreciation for at the moment. Soup of the day: Aubergine + tomato

Salads of the day: Veggie curry · Roast pepper, tomato, rosemary + garlic pasta

Day 5 caffeine is the hottest drug on the street...literally

Today a queue formed of people waiting for a dose of pick me up juice. I think people are really bored now and with the prospects of another 3 weeks in lockdown many who have started random hobbies for entertainment have the potential of becoming the master of a new trait.

Salads of the day: Aubergine + tomato pasta · Cannellini beans with beetroot, carrot + dill
