Day 189 Mature like Cheddar

What a strange morning. Every so often a situation will happen in the deli and then when it’s done I step back and realise that i’ve matured! I’m very opinionated but i’ve learnt from standing behind the counter that sometimes you just need to let a person have their moment and not say anything. I rarely do this and it should be noted that if I say nothing it means I have no hope for you. All T all shade

Day 188 Late

I woke up 30 minutes late this morning and like with everything, I blame my mother. She put the heating on and it was so cosy my body didn’t arise from it’s restful slumber! It’s really hard owning a business but a food business is even harder because people are constantly giving you food to try. Sounds great until your BMI is sky high…

Day 187 Praise

This morning I woke up in a burrito like state. I put on a hundred layers and braced the cold. I’m not religious but I found myself praying to any God that would listen in the hope that I won’t slip and fall…and i didn’t. So thank you to whatever God that looked over me this morning. You’re the best!

Day 186 The Great Weekend

I could talk about the sub zero temperatures outside but I can only be grateful for it because remember the hotter our winters get the less time we have before the icebergs melt. But on a lighter note my brothers birthday went to plan! I’m actually a little shocked because i’ve never made a scavenger hunt before, it went so well i’m considering a new career path…

Day 185 Long Friday

Gurl. TGIF and all that but it’s going to be a long day! Friday’s are usually our busiest day and then we’re working late tonight. fun, fun, fun. Tomorrow the scavenger hunt will commence and i’m ready i’ve been planing this for weeks! I’m also making a tower of Krispy Kreme so if the hunt fails there’s always that.

Day 184 Am I smart?

So i’ve made a scavenger hunt for my brothers birthday and i’ve been testing my clues out of the customers. I think I might have made them too difficult. I’m not the most intelligent being around (I couldn’t even spell intelligent) but this might be more of a challenge then I anticipated!

Day 182 Drizzle drizzle

It’s another wet miserable day. I’m still going to take the deli dog out for a big trek after work though, come rain or shine! Yesterday a customer very bravely brought us in some of their attempts at vegan cooking. I will not post my review online because no matter how it tasted it was a lovely thought! I just hope Mad put her loving socks on today…

Day 181 I should stop

Here’s what I ate yesterday: A lava bun from Kaphian (highly recommend), Patisserie goods from WA Japanese bakery (get the sesame cheesecake), the vegetarian bundle from Taco Bell (Fun food but obviously there’s better Mexican food out there) and to finish Creme cookies in Soho (at £4 each I don’t think it’s worth it but it was a nice treat). Did I have a good weekend? YES.

Day 180 Late night shopping

I went to the supermarket at 10pm last night and the vibe was weird. I’m in this superstore that had no one in it apart from the employees restocking the shelves, I had this overwhelming feeling come over me...I just wanted to dance, there was just so much room! Highly recommend a late night shop!

Day 179 Truffle shuffle

11 degrees today, it’s gonna a hot one! January is such a long month, I just want it to be February already! I made truffle risotto yesterday needless to say it was delicious. Does anyone else do a little dance when they taste good food? I really think I should start cooking for a living.

Day 178 I made a mess

So yesterday I was making some fritters and my frying oil went mental. I was shot multiple times with little pellets, It was a mess! This being said I still persevered and the fritter was tasty, I can’t say it was worth the pain but it provided my mother with entertainment for the evening.

Day 177 I have an idea

I’ve always made stupid videos of my cooking with the intention for being entertaining but also informative. While many people are trying to eat less I’m always looking to eat more, so i’m thinking of putting together a channel to channel my energy into…get it #greatbanter

Another week dawns upon us and it is freezing! omg it snowed yesterday blah blah blah amazing. I’m very giddy this morning because I had a great weekend with some incredible food! I whole heartedly suggest you start cooking. #justdoit

Day 175 Good to be back

The first week back is coming to a close and I think it went pretty well. Many customers have jumped through the door saying how happy they are because the deli is back but honestly I needed the deli to reopen as well! My diet many consisted of biscuits over Christmas so I needed the deli to re open too!!

Day 174 no party? no problem

I’m planing a party for my brothers birthday. Not a party, more like ‘a thing to do’. I want to do a scavenger hunt because my brother likes solving puzzles and I can easily make it covid safe! Plus I rarely do anything nice for the dear boy so this should earn me some serious sister points! #siblingrivalry

Day 173 Clear out

I don’t know what came over me yesterday but I felt the need for clean out in our kitchen (at home). The collection of goods we’ve accumulated over the years is just ridiculous. 20 varieties of curry pastes, 10 different breeds of rice, 15 types of noodles… but the spice cupboard… 47 different spice mixtures (that doesn’t include that we have 4 different brands of Chinese 5 spice). Chef = hoarder.

Day 172 Back into the swing of things

It feels good to be back at work, for now. I feel like a fully charged phone! I was woken at 5am this morning by my darling dog so I decided to watch Modern Family until my alarm went off. Yesterday mainly consisted on people walking in and doing a little dance to celebrate the opening of the deli. We love to see it.

Day 171 We're back B******

And the Deli is…OPEN!!! How’s 2021 treating you so far? same as 2020? Well we’re back and so far it’s going good! My new years resolution is to be kind and make better choices. It’s hard to find a resolution to better myself because lets be honest, it’s hard to improve perfection #humble

Day 169 So this is Christmas

Morning all, You’ve heard it a hundred times but this year has been weird, horrible, BS, a total write off! However at the deli it’s been amazing. We’ve met so many new customers as well as our OG’s who have come to see us throughout the year. From all of us at North St. we want to thank you for all the support, appreciation and laughs. Let’s hope next year will treat us better. Over and out, come thur 2021.
