north st. deli

Fast · Fresh · Delicious

Day 313 It can wait

You know when you have a list of things to do but you find anything to distract yourself so you don’t have to do them? That’s me right now. I’m just gonna wait until the last minute, get really stressed and then do them…seems like a good plan.

Salads:

Thai coconut curry with aduki beans + sweet potato

Seaweed rice

Roast squash ragu pasta

BBQ pork potato + bean thing

Soup: Tomato + Phillips basil

Day 312 Open all hours

It’s August…you could have fooled me! Yesterday I got asked about the ‘August close’. You’ll be happy to know the deli does not plan to close down for 5 weeks and leave you all stranded in your own kitchens with a spice rack you only bought for aesthetics.

Salads:

Moroccan spiced lentils

Sumac rice

Chicken ragu pasta

Panzanella

Soup: Roast pepper · white bean + basil

Day 311 Sleeping beauty

What did I do this weekend? Sleep. I had plans I just missed them all! I don’t know what happened whenever I sat down I was asleep within minutes. I didn’t realise I was exhausted. I think i’m revitalised now but if you catch me napping at work don’t wake me…I bite.

Salads:

Roast pepper + white bean

Squash + rosemary rice

Broccoli · chilli + garlic pasta

Roast veg + paneer curry

Soup: Sweet potato + ginger

Sandwich: Mortadella ham, Manchego cheese, jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 310 Rain on me

I’m always so torn when it comes to the weekend. Do I go out or do I take on a vegetable like form at home? It’s been a lovely zen morning so much so that I forgot to write the menu and Mother shouted at me like the child I am. Happy Friday everyone.

Salads:

Split peas + aubergine

Edamame + crispy shallot rice

Courgette · tomato + basil pasta

Soup: Peas · potato + basil

Day 309 Horror movie

Yesterday was a mad rush. The best part was when Nelly smacked her head on the slicer. It wasn’t a horror movie scene (she didn’t touch the blade) but she still managed to split the skin. Ahhhh good times.

sweetcorn rice

Mushroom ragu pasta

Fattoush style salad

Soup: Roast pepper · tomato + basil

Sandwich: Romano salame, Peppercorn pecorino, chilli relish + tomato

Day 308 To me to you

Last night my friends and I got trapped in Kensington gardens. We had to use our best teamwork skills to get our bikes over the fence, it was a great success. On the way home I played some Disney tunes like a true roadman great night. I’m spent.

Salads:

Thai spiced squash + aduki beans

Roast pepper + herb rice

Pistachio + spinach pesto pasta

Lentil + feta salad concoction

Day 307 Stepping stone

When considering what dog is right for you take into consideration how energetic the breed is. Last night at 1am when I was trying to get some rest my dog used me as a step to stare out the window. The animal I feed and keep safe stood on my back to watch the birds and the bees #truelove?

Salads:

Rainbow lentils

Paprika rice

Smokey aubergine pasta

Chicken salad with maple + mustard dressing

Soup: Tuscan tomato

Sandwich: Pulled pork, swiss cheese, jalapeno relish + crunchy slaw

Day 306 Scoot scoot

I had a great weekend. You see kids in movies cycling from A to B and they look so free. I am now that free child. Yes, I should probably learn to drive but for now my little roadster will do. I’m on cloud 9 today…for now.

Salads:

Ginger + turmeric dahl

Oriental spiced rice

Courgette · broccoli + spinach pasta

Tofu + black eyed bean oriental ‘curry’

Day 305 Soak it up

Well this week flew by. I am going to take advantage of the last day of sun and do an all nighter. Sober. I bought a bike and with my little two wheel wonder I plan to go into central London and watch the free entertainment of people getting absolutely wasted and falling about the place.

Kimchi rice

Cauliflower + cashew pesto pasta

Teriyaki pork noodles

Soup: Indian spiced tomato OR gazpacho

I can’t think straight today. That’s not to say i’m a great thinker any other day but today i feel like i’m on a come down from LSD. If any law official is reading this, I have never taken and I do not condone drugs…I promise. #godsavethequeen

Peri peri cauliflower + lentils

Roast squash + spring onion rice

Mushroom ragu pasta

Day 302 Tastes like freedom?

Has anyone’s life gone back to normal? Everyone was hyping up ‘freedom day’ but nothing’s really changed. The BBC are giving cummings a lot of air time for his expose on the government. Amazing that he thinks that we don’t all know that Boris is a d**k head…

Salads:

Thai spiced coconut curry

Miso + ginger rice

Roast squash + tomato pasta

Mackerel potato salad

Day 301 Too hot to handle

Living in London you forget what hot weather can do to a person. Nothing went according to plan. Instead I went to the market in the morning, lazed around and went for a bike ride after sun down. As a pasty white person the sun is not my friend.

Salads:

Moroccan spiced lentils

Olive + preserved lemon rice

Spinach + cashew pesto pasta

Crab stick potato salad

Day 298 Sunny with a chance of conflict

Feta salad type thing

Salads:

Med veg + lentils

Sumac rice

Chicken + tarragon pasta

Chickpea · paneer + spinach

Soup: Tuscan tomato + basil

Day 296 Bittersweet

Here’s my critical analysis. The Italians didn’t play any better than England in that match but they have been better overall. Now let’s look out the fall out. The way you treat your team when they lose says more than when they win and the reaction of many in this country has lifted the curtain on the racism that some people like ignore. This is bittersweet for me.

Salads:

Chilli non carne

Lightly spiced sweetcorn rice

Broccoli · chilli + garlic pasta

Soup: Roast squash + tomato

Sandwich: Pastrami beef, Pecorino romano, Jalapeno relish + tomato

Day 295 Shake it

Spinach + herb rice

Cauliflower pesto pasta (contains cashew)

Panzanella styled salad

Soup: lightly spiced potato + dill

Day 294 Viene ritorna a casa

England v Italy eh? Food? Italy wins. Culture? Italy wins. Fashion? Italy wins. Football? Italy will win. Enjoy this feeling England. It won’t last and when you do loose try and go about it with some grace and decorum…try.
